Raising the roof

When I was a young man, I regularly raised the roof. I partied hard, I suppose, and paid the price.

These days, I am raising the roof on my place in Italy. Or more correctly, replacing the roof.

The builders are Franco and Marcello BROGIALDI, local cousins.

The family has lived here for hundreds of years.

Their family probably built the house Michelangelo lived in as a boy.

They start work at 7:30 am, do not stop for coffee, and then they work till 12.  They stop for a quick lunch. Once back they work through till 5.

The roof will take four weeks to replace, including  stripping back the old roof.
